Oakland group is unique in that Absolute was engaged before the client found their office space, introduced to us by Carter Towler which allowed us to take a consultative approach and establish the space and environment they required. Conducting several site visits and “test fit” plans we were able to work with them to take on their new East Parade office. This consultative approach allowed us to delve into the company’s culture and how they work, creating different “neighbourhoods” for different teams within the open office. A town hall space was formed using amphitheatre-style seating on castors for flexibility. A large, open social space was essential as they host regular events to grow their team culture. A Zoom room is more often than not requested in a lot of schemes post-pandemic as Teams calls are here to stay, this offers a space to take calls without disturbing the rest of the office.
Collaborative work settings reflect Oakland’s company culture and this is accommodated in high bench tables and bespoke booths. A well-being room offers a refuge space with a calm environment for those occasions privacy and a break from the office is required. Aesthetically, brick slips reflect the industrial setting of Leeds city centre whilst pops of colour, wood grains and leather finishes create a dynamic workspace with an edge. Not everything is about work, with a drinks fridge installed in the tea point we have created a space for after work socialising with a round bespoke seating area including plants that complement the existing architecture of the space.
